Jane Zempel - Director of Women's Ministries
Though I would much prefer to do this individually over a cup of coffee (or tea) with each of you, this letter will have to suffice for now. Please allow me to introduce myself and my reason for wanting to do so.
My name is Jane Zempel. I have been married to my husband, Tom, for 47 years---42 as a Pastor/Professor’s wife. We have three adult children and are blessed to be grandpa and grandma to 6 (awesome!) grandchildren. The Lord brought us to Colonial 3 ½ years ago when Tom was called to serve on the pastoral staff and as part of the Shepherd’s seminary faculty. What a joy and delight it has been to be part of these exciting ministries! Now in addition to wife, mom and grandma, I’ve agreed to add another role.
I received a request to prayerfully consider serving as the Director of Women’s Ministries at Colonial. I was initially hesitant, while also humbled and honored by the invitation. As I prayed about it and discussed it with my husband over the next few days, I began to see this as an awesome privilege to serve the Lord and the ladies in our church family at Colonial. I readily embrace the fact that I am “an older woman” and endeavor to take Titus 2 very seriously. One of the factors that helped me in my decision is the knowledge that I will be supported and counseled by a wonderful group of women who also share this passion. I, along with the women on the Leadership Team, will be planning carefully and also want to hear from you about ideas and suggestions for ways we can serve Christ by serving one another in meaningful ways.
I have accepted this as “God’s appointment” for this season in my journey. I have a great appreciation for the investment of many women over the years of Colonial’s history and know that will only deepen as I learn more. I also am excited as we look toward the future, as the Lord tarries, to see what He has in store. One of the main reasons for this letter is to solicit your prayer support. I am keenly aware of my need for the Lord’s enablement and firmly believe Him when He said, “Without Me, you can do nothing.” Please know that I welcome your input. My heart and ears are open to each of you. And, if we can do that over a cup of coffee (or tea), that would be wonderful! We will be sending you another letter in a few weeks about the fall schedule and some exciting opportunities in the Women’s Ministry.
Joyful in Christ,
The Women's Ministry of Colonial Baptist Church would love for you to be a part of our ministry. Please join us as we serve and fellowship together!
We have a faithful prayer team who prays for our ministry and for the women of Colonial. If you would like prayer for yourself or for an immediate family member please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com if we can assist you in any way.
"Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching."
(Hebrews 10:25, NIV)
